I migliori sommelier di 17 Paesi, provenienti da sei continenti, hanno selezionato la World’s Best Sommeliers’ Selection 2026, una lista di 115 vini scelti dopo degustazioni condotte dalla giuria internazionale della rete di The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. A guidare i lavori è stata Kristell Monot, presidente della selezione e head sommelier del Mugaritz.
Italia al primo posto con 20 vini – 13 rossi – trainati da Nebbiolo, Barolo e Barbaresco, insieme a interpretazioni contemporanee come il Grenache di Clara Marcelli e il Merlot affinato sui fondali marini della Tenuta Del Paguro.
Portogallo segue con 18 etichette tra bianchi, rossi e fortificati, confermando la forza delle varietà autoctone e la tradizione nei Porto e Madeira. Gli Stati Uniti ottengono 17 posizioni, guidati dalla California e con un contributo significativo di Texas e Oregon.
La Spagna presenta 12 vini tra rossi, sherry e Cava, mentre l’Argentina porta 12 etichette, con il Malbec protagonista e una crescente varietà di bianchi. L’Uruguay conquista cinque posizioni, il Cile otto rossi e il Brasile un blend bianco.
In Europa, la Francia domina tra spumanti e rosati; la Germania si distingue con tre Riesling; la Repubblica Ceca ottiene tre posizioni con Gurdau; Georgia e Grecia completano la selezione con vini tradizionali e monovitigni.

WORLD’S BEST SOMMELIERS’ SELECTION 2026 ANNOUNCED
The world’s top sommeliers from 17 countries across six continents have unveiled the World’s Best Sommeliers’ Selection 2026. Guided by Kristell Monot, President of the Selection and Head Sommelier at Mugaritz, the international panel from The World’s 50 Best Restaurants network evaluated hundreds of wines to define a final list of 115 labels from 16 countries.
Italy leads the ranking with 20 wines, including 13 reds. Nebbiolo stood out with four Barolo and Barbaresco selections, while contemporary styles were represented by Clara Marcelli’s Grenache and Tenuta Del Paguro’s sea‑aged Merlot.
Portugal follows with 18 wines, spanning whites, reds and fortified styles. Five whites highlighted the strength of native varieties, all eight reds came from the Douro, and Porto and Madeira reaffirmed the country’s mastery in fortified wines.
The United States secured 17 places, driven by California’s Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Texas contributed six wines, while Oregon’s Lingua Franca earned four spots with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Spain presented 12 wines, including reds from Ribera del Duero, Rioja and Priorat, two sherries and a Cava by Pere Ventura. Contemporary whites from Chivite and Bodegas Faustino completed the selection.
Argentina also achieved 12 entries, with seven Malbec‑driven reds and four whites showcasing stylistic diversity. Uruguay earned five positions, Chile eight reds, and Brazil one white blend.
Across Europe, France dominated sparkling and rosé categories; Germany stood out with three Rieslings; Czech producer Gurdau secured three places; Georgia contributed two traditional monovarietals, including the only orange wine; and Greece added one white and one red.
